PERSONAL JOURNAL:
SIN ( 2 Samuel 22:24 ): This verse is a reminder to me that because of Your Son, Jesus, I am blameless before You, Father, as You have cleansed everything I’ve done and will do through the blood of Jesus. This is an amazing reminder this morning, but the second part of this verse is what convicts me for my sin confession. David follows up the blameless before You statement with “and kept myself from sinning.” This convicts me this morning because I have not. David reminds me that although we are given unending grace from You, that sinning is still a choice of mine either way. I have chosen to live in my flesh and selfishness far too much in this life, Father. I have abused and sometimes even completely neglected the amazing sacrifice of Jesus and the never-ending amount of grace You offer me. Please forgive me for this, Father. I know that it’s highly unlikely for me to never sin, but my request is for You to continue helping me to make my sins far less frequent today than yesterday.
PROMISE ( 2 Samuel 22:29 ): I often dwell in the darkness of my sinful nature and the mistakes of my past, Father. Here, You remind me that You shine a light on my darkness, not to expose or shame me, but to cleanse those mistakes with Your light, Father. You shine a light for me to learn from my darkness and navigate down a better path moving forward; Your path. Thank You for the promise of Your light, Father.
ATTITUDE ( 2 Samuel 22:33 ): In the second part of the verse, David gives a great reminder to me today. He says You make my way perfect. It doesn’t say I am perfect, rather it says You make my way perfect. I cannot do this on my own and I must always remember that I will fall to sin occasionally. I must also remember to embrace the attitude that by myself this life is impossible, but with You all things are possible. Help me to continually embrace a life with You making my way perfect, Father. Less reliance on myself and more on You.
COMMAND ( 2 Samuel 22:50 ): This verse is a powerful reminder to me today that I must praise You no matter what is going on around me. Whether in the midst of a storm, in the eye of a storm, or out of a storm, I must remember to always praise You through it all. Thank You for the reminder today, Father.
EXAMPLE ( 2 Samuel 22:37 ): This is such a powerful example for me today. Thank You, Father. David says “You widen a place beneath me for my steps, and my ankles do not give way.” This goes back to my attitude adjustment of less reliance on myself and more on You. This verse tells me that on my own I’m walking a tightrope daily, but with You my steps are widened, allowing me to walk a better and more stable path. A path with a firm foundation. Thank You for blessing me with such a great example to move forward in, Father.
*DAILY NOTE: Today’s scripture gives me so many reminders and convictions, Father. Reminders that I cannot do this life apart from You, but also that with You my steps gain a firm foundation instead of a constant tightrope balance that I used to attempt to do. Conviction that I need to stop trying to always be in control because I screw things up when I try to do this life my way. Thank You for Your scripture, Father. Thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy towards me no matter how often I have rebelled against You. Thank You for a powerful quiet time this morning.
