Quiet Time in Mark 15

PERSONAL JOURNAL:

SIN ( Conviction ): My sin confession today, Father, is that I have not been even remotely close to as faithful to You as of late as You have been to me.  I have not been as consistently doing my quiet times, oftentimes even finding other things to distract me from doing them even after hearing from the Spirit to do it.  Please forgive me for this, Father.  Help me to keep my mind and eyes focused on You.

PROMISE ( Mark 15:28 ): In this verse, although a spurious one, the mention of scripture being fulfilled is showing Your Old Testament promises coming to fruition through Jesus’ sacrifice.  I love how Jesus’ life, albeit short-lived, was mentioned many times throughout the Old Testament even before any humans had any clue as to what the mentioning of those actions and steps actually meant.  Even today, I feel we don’t truly understand the many correlations You speak of simply due to our immaturity in faith.

ATTITUDE ( Mark 15:5 ): All the accusations were coming at Jesus like crazy in front of Pilate.  When confronted about it, Jesus said nothing.  He likely said nothing due to His prophetic task at hand, but I feel it was also His way of remaining humble and based in Your truth.  He didn’t have to defend Himself to the non-believer, Pilate, nor to all of these blasphemous Pharisees and such.  He simply let them speak their words and didn’t give them any additional fuel for their fires.  I need to work on this in my own life, because oftentimes I find that I NEED to defend myself in moments like this, but I really don’t.  People can say what they want to say about me or to me.  Their words towards me and thoughts about me should mean nothing to me as only Your view of me truly matters in this life and in eternity.  Help me with this, Father.  Help me to remain silent when You do not require me to speak.

COMMAND ( Mark 15:10 ): I find it very interesting that even Pilate knew what the chief priest were doing with Jesus had nothing to do with actual crimes being committed.  You tell us here that Pilate knew that all of this from them was because of envy.  The command I see from this today is that we should not do ANY negative actions or say ANY negative words out of spite or envy, Father, as the chief priests chose to do here.  I am guilty of this quite often, but thankfully You are continuing to show me Your ways are better than my own.  Thank You, Father.

EXAMPLE ( Mark 15:2, 5, 10 ): Pilate asked Jesus in the middle of the defamatory accusations from the chief priest about His title and such.  Jesus stayed humble throughout all of this.  Pilate knew that what they were doing to Jesus was out of envy, but due to the craziness of the crowd from being riled up by the chief priests, he felt he had no choice but to proceed.  He even tried to give them the chance to release Jesus, but they chose a proven criminal to be released over Him.  Jesus shows such a great example of humility and remaining in Your presence even in the middle of a massive storm around Him.

*DAILY NOTE: Cool, calm, and collected during the most massive storm ever.  This is essentially the theme for the scripture today.  Massive chaos going on around and to Jesus, yet He is fazed by it because He remans in You and You in Him throughout all of this.  He is always focused on You through all of it, even when His human body is feeling weak from everything.  Thank You for a great quiet time today, Father, and for the great conversation we had in Mark 15 today.
